Wan Qi learns how to write her chinese name

Today, my colleague Ru Fang was complaining to me about her students not being able to write their own name at the age of seven. So the kiasu mummy decided to do something before any teacher made such a complain to me about Wan Qi.
Hence, I made a copy of Wan Qi chinese name using word document and printed 5 copies so that I can practise with her.
When I got home today, the first thing I did was to teach Wan Qi how to write her chinese name. She is very good in the sense that she can follow my instructions very well. All the heng, pieh, dian etc etc. After finishing the first name, she then proceeded to the second one. However, when she started writing the chinese character "wan", the sequence of the stroke was wrong so I ask her to write another one but she insisted on continuing the chinese character"qi" which made me very angry. I spanked her on her hand and scolded her for not listening to instruction. She was kind of shock and started to cry and she tried to say something but couldnt as she was crying. When she finally settled down, she said she was sorry.
Then I made her write another time and she followed my instruction this time and obediently wrote two more times before I rewarded with Smaties chocolate, she was overjoyed and kissed me all over.
Actually, it was quite heartbreaking to see her crying like that but I told myself that I must be stern as I wanted her to follow instructions and not to do the way she likes as I feel that in order to master the chinese language the writing sequence is also very important so that she can remember the chinese character easily. When she is bigger, she will not have much problem remembering the characters just like me.( Haha my friends used to call me a walking dictionary during my jc time.)Indeed, after listening and observing me write her name, she is able to write two times witout any mistake. Good job Wan Qi. Sorry I have to let you learn the hard way. But thats because I love you ok sweetie.

Wan Qi's First Day in Bethesda Kindergarten on 4.1.10

It was 4 Jan, Wan Qi's orientation at Bethesda Kindergarten. I wanted to take childcare leave but was told that no teachers are allowed to take ccl on the first day of school so no choice.
We reached the school earlier so that I can booked her transportation. Boo Hoo it's very ex $150 per month. But no choice as Xihong cannot drive her to school as we had planned earlier.

We took a cab there and Wan Qi was very happy when she saw the playground. It's a big one with swing, slides and climbing thingy. I accompanied her and was able to listen to the principal's speech.The principal looks strict but I have talked to her previously and feel that she is a strict yet caring principal. In fact, many parents from kiausu parent.com said so. That was the reason why I put Wan Qi there. Both Xihong and I felt that a good school is very important.
The school was very organised even on the first day. I didnt manage to listen to the principal;s speech till the end as I need to rush to school. It's a pity but the principal said that they had received more registration this year and many students are on the waiting list for next year.

My mum stayed behind with Wan Qi for the rest of the orientation. And she was real tired when she was back from school. But I think she did enjoyed herself.

on the 5th Jan, the first day of school. Wan Qi told my mum that the school's provided lunch was not very tasty but she finished all of them because she was real real hungry.

on the sixth, she had a bit of fish beehoon for breakfast. I was worried that she will be very hungry in the late morning so before she boarded the schoolbus, she had a hardboiled egg. And I went to buy a bread for her just in case she feels hungry on the way to school.

The way she expresses herself

During the holidays, we stayed at our mum's place due to the reno (yes we are still staying at my mum's place as the reno is still not done.....:() Hence, Wan Qi stayed up late as my parents like to watch LONG JUAN FENG a taiwan serial.
She will make all sorts of excuses to stay up late.

On these particular night, I asked her to go to sleep. She reluctantly followed me. Soon after we were on the bed, she started her ACTING.

婉琦 ： 妈妈，很暗，我很怕。

妈妈 ： 你怕什么？

婉琦 ： 我怕巫婆。

妈妈 ： 有妈妈在，不用怕。

婉琦 ： 可是我真的帕，我怕得毛骨悚然，(I was quite impress when she said that but she didnt stop there SHE CONTINUES... ，心房卜卜的跳， 双脚发软，我还发抖。

妈妈 ： 哇，你啊！很会形容HAH.

婉琦 ：She then gave me her silly grin. 我去找爸爸hah。

sign... I gave up and went to sleep while she went to look for Xihong who is the 厅长。
