Mongkok hotel - City Hall for Tim Sum and The Peak
This boutique hotel that I had chosen was actually very very near to Hongkong local wet market. I was in shock when I knew it. But there are good points too as we are able to see the real hongkongers life in that sense. Plus I was able to buy strawberries and cherries cheaply in the market. In addition, I also bought some pretty winter clothes for Wan Qi at low low price. And Wan Qi was also able to see the old style Singapore Chinatown where chickens are being slaughtered right at the stall.
The bad point is the hotel is real real small and not as comfy. But it was just a three roads after ladies market. So when Wan Qi was too tired, I suggested to Xihong to take Wan Qi back first while I continued to shop.haha.But I would not recommend this hotel.
In the morning, we went to have tea in city hall promenade which is very near to our next destination - the peak. It was very crowded at the restaurant as it is famous for tim sum. But I think the food there are not very great too. The 3 of us ate $60 SGD of tim sum which later I found out from my friend who went to HK too and was told that the price we paid are ex.
Then we walked over to the peak. It was exhausting. As we are constantly walking uphill. The peak was up on the hill so the road to the peak is all upslope. Gosh with the pram and all. But I personally think it's a must to go to the Peak. Then our Singapore kids will know what is meant by foggy. hee. Cos I read a the phonics story book to Wan Qi and it mentioned about foggy but through pictures its difficult to let Wan Qi know. But after going to the peak - Wan Qi defintely know what its like to be foggy.
Plus its a must to take the tram. It's a good experience. When we looked out from the tram the building appeared to be slanting. And the tram was designed in such a way that when it goes uphill, those who are standing will not fall even when one is really slanting. Up to the peak is another experience. It's icy cold and when we stuck our head to see the scenery - it was nothing but fog. But we were not at all disappointed. It was fun.
