Our 2012 Korea Trip last place of interest - Gyeongbok Palace
The guards are very professional. They didnt smile a bit when we greeted them. They are very stern. But one of them winked at Wan Qi at the end of the photo shoot. haha
Though this part of this palace had been burnt down by the Japanese but its also not possible to see every part of the palace. Its huge.
I am always amazed by how intelligent and careful olden architects are. They paid attention to every small detail. For example the floors (made from mount sorak rocks)are purposely laid in different levels so that when the ministers report to the emperor, the reflection from the sun will not be too glaring.
Also Sorak rocks are used is to safeguard the palace and the emperor so that invaders could not dig underground and enter the palace.
