Singapore's Old Places

I am always fond of retro things. That day when I switched on the TV, happened to see that there will be a documentary show showing singapore 's old place. But I missed it last Tuesday. Was hoping to find the old playground featured in that documentary show. It reminded me of my own childhood. My childhood was an adventurous one, I must say. So I hope Wan Qi can "share" some of my chidlhood too.

Hence, we get the ball rolling first by bringing her to Toa Payoh dragon playground. I had my picture taken in this kind of dragon playground too when I was young. We played catching in the playground and Wan Qi played a Cinderalle version. She said Xihong and I are the stepsister and stepbrother. We are supposed to go to the grand ball. Somehow I ended up as the witch and is supposed to catch the "Wan Qi Cinderalle". Haha So we played catching. Once in a while, I becam e Wan Qi's allie. She would ride on her horse(there's a rocking horse there) in order to escape from the witch which is Xihong. But being Wan Qi's allie is no good cos by the time I reached her horse, she said she had already rode the horse off. So I was caught by the wicked witch - Xihong.

It's quite a fun saturday. We then proceed to Qianhu and Goats Farm again.

Home visit by Living Santuary Teachers

On Monday evening, Wan Qi's teachers from Living Santuary came for the home visit. Being the kiasu mummy, I stayed up late to tidy and clean up the place. I was definitely more excited than Wan Qi. ha!!!
After work, it was raining cats and dogs. Luckily, my colleague Nazema gave me a lift to Buangkok. However, as I need to get some cakes for the teachers so I took a train back to Sengkang. I bought cake from "cake talk"the diy cake shop. Their cakes are beautiful but I am not sure if they tasted as good. I bought strawberry cakes for Wan Qi's 2 teachers.
And when I reach Boon Keng, I went to MAC to get nugget meals for the teachers as it was dinner time so I thought its courtesy that I buy some food for the teachers. I mean they are so so dedicated. Think if we were to ask to do home visit, we will defintely curse and swear hor. hee hee.
Both Wan Qi's teachers Mrs Loong and Miss Chua are very nice and cheerful teachers. Wan Qi loves them a lot. They are strict but loving to the kids at the same time. This is why I insisted Wan Qi to stay in this school as the teachers there are really very caring even though Wan Qi seems too weak to stay in an air con school. Sign. She has been having cough. I wish she will recover soon. :(
Both the teachers complimented on Wan Qi's good behaviour and good academic results. I was told that she pays attention to the teachers and is very confident when she does her show and tell. I was relieved as the feedback that I received from the Bethesda Kindergarten Katong was a total different story from the Dayspring teachers and Living Santuary teachers. Her Chinese teacher also said the same thing about Wan Qi and she praised Wan Qi for her good recognition of the Chinese characters and her drawing skills. (Actually her drawing was taught by me. I always teach her how to draw. eg. for birds - I will ask her to draw two circle for the body , two dots for the mouth one two triangle for the mouth etc)
The only problem Wan Qi had was her sitting position. She never like to sit cross legged. Instead, her legs will form into an odd shape.Dont know how to describe. All the 3 teachers were very concern about this and had to constantly remind Wan Qi as they told me its bad for the development of her legs. I take note of that and reminded Wan Qi about this.
So overall, Wan Qi has been a good student. I am glad to hear that. Then I asked the teachers if Wan Qi is talkative in class as claimed by the Bethesda teachers but they both said she talks at the right time. She will participate actively in discussions and not talk unneccessary. So I felt relieved again.
The other thing that worries me is whether Wan Qi is a complain queen as Wan Qi told me her friends dont like her. When I asked her why she said is becuase she always tell them to keep quiet. But the teachers said she is alright she doesnt complain about her friends. She can socialise very well with her friends. The teachers said that one of the reason why Wan Qi only seems to have 1 good friend most probably is because most of the students around her are boys. Phew another relief. Aiyo I have many concerns for her.
It's really not easy being a parent. Worry for this and that. No choice cant help worrying. My mum said I am too kan jiong must relax a bit. Have not been feeling well these days. My mum went to ask the Buddha for me and guess what. Buddha also advise me not to be so kan jiong.
But cant help it when it concerns my little girl . Seems to difficult to have another child like that. Think I will have more wrinkles formed on my forehead if I have another child. :P

Botak Grandpa and Wan Qi

The first time when my dad shaved all his hair and become bald, I "accidentally" introduced the word "botak"to her. She was so amused by it that she kept calling my dad botak head and asked my dad why did he shaved all his hair. She commented that it was ugly.
Knowing that my dad is a vain guy(haha yes he is. He used to have many many shoes so as to match his clothing. I inherit my love for shoes from him I guess. ha), I told Wan Qi not to mention "botak" in front of my dad again. I told her it will hurt Gong Gong's feeling. Ever since I said this, Wan Qi stopped teasing my dad. Phew.
Then last Friday, I overheard Wan Qi's conversation with my dad. My dad was saying that now he is botak. And Wan Qi immediately repiled"It's good to be botak then it's easier to comb your hair mah". I was in the room at that time and couldnt help laughing. On the other hand, I was amazed by her her quick respond - and an encouraging one. :) Thanks Wan Qi for loving my dad and my mum. That's what I always told her.

Homecooked food by Housewife Wan Qi

Wan Qi helped me to wash the black beans all by herself. The cutting was assisted by me as the lotus are really hard plus I'm afraid she might cut her fingers. :P

Wan Qi helped me to wash the broccoli and pluck the broccoli. She is trying her very best with all her little strength. So funny look at her facial expression. Used GOO LUK (hokkien saying)

Wan Qi ate up all broccoli in the bowl while I finished the other bowl. We were muching and muching while Xihong was sleeping. In the end, there was not a bit left for Xihong. Sorry.

We bought a new rice cooker which looks similar to our previous one which was spoiled by the maid. Sign nowadays things are really ex. This small rice cooker cost $160.
Have been cooking home cooked food during the holidays so that my mum, Xihong, Wan Qi and I can have healthy food. We brewed soup and have broccolis for all our meals. On this day, I thought why not get Wan Qi involved in the cooking since baking courses are quite ex for children. I must as well do it at home with Wan Qi. Save cost and have free labour. Hee evil mummy.

Happy 45th Birthday Singapore @ Padang

Off we went to the NDP show at around 4:30pm. Wan Qi wearing her sunglasses which we bought it for her as she said she really wants it. In the end, she complained that its uncomfortable to wear glasses. :~~ Waste money cause us $8. Ok but I hope she will protect her eyes then as we told her that it's very important to protect her eyes, since now she knows that its uncomfortable wearing glasses. We were in the Yellow section which is GREAT as we can see the fireworks at a closer distance.

Managed to ask a teenager to help us take a picture before we enter PADANG
Just look at the stairs, OMG imagining carrying three heavy bags and carrying Wan Qi in the crowds when we were going home. This is no kidding, make my shoulders ache so much.
Queueing to go in.
Wan Qi meddling with the Singapore flag
Not forgetting the Singapore WAVEA little flower ballon sculpture given by the ""motivators""at the NDP(Motivators are supposed to motivate the audience to be "high" in the great party)In the end, Wan Qi offered to a little boy who was crying non-stop at the start of the show, hoping to calm him down. That's a generous act, Wan Qi- nice JIEJIE
Stunning Fireworks The beautiful Supreme Court
Squeeze out a smile carrying all the baggies.

Home Sweet Home by MRT- Luckily we live so near to city hall mrt and Xihong fetched us at the station. Cant walk home. Too tired.

It's Singapore 45th Birthday!!!! And Xihong managed to win 2 tickets so Wan Qi and I went. Initially, I told Xihong to go with Wan Qi (Wan Qi and I went last year) but he said that I am a better narrator (Hee I think is because he wants to go jalan jalan with his friend lo :P)

Anyway, I went with Wan Qi even though I know its going to be a bit tough for me as I pant easily nowadays plus I know with two goodie bags and my own bang and Wan Qi, its going to be SIong!!!
I think this year NDP show is better than last year, I felt that it's more beautiful this year.
We had an enjoyable time together singing the NDP songs or rather it was me singing. Wan Qi dont really know how to sing the theme song for this year Sing A Song for Singapore. She only know how to sing Five Stars Arising. Unfortunately, this song was sang in another version so Wan Qi didnt really sing.

Girls are just born to be vain.

Not long ago, I painted my nails red. Upon seeing it, Wan Qi also want to try. I forbid her to do so as I think young children shouldnt paint their nails.

Then on this particular night, while I was watching television. She took out her stickers and started pasting them on her nails even though she has not been exposed to nail art before. I was quite impressed but Xihong was not. He was not pleased at all. I thought that was quite creative of her.:P

Singapore Girl and Singapore dog

My mum's friend gave Wan Qi a National Day goody bag in advance so Wan Qi took out the flags and played with them. My little doggy was not spared. She became her model. Although not very willing, she still gave Wan Qi some face. She must be in a good mood that day, otherwise she will not bulge. She is my attitude 6yr plus girl.

Wan Qi's 1st Learning Journey With Living Santuary Teachers and friends

"妈妈! 小心!等一下巴士移动,很可能会撞倒你!"
Her new pose which she had learnt from Impact Models

Wan Qi's playmate is defintely not very keen about the whole trip. haha

Wan Qi woke up early morning to draw a cartoon for her teacher.

Today is Wan Qi 's first learning journey -Health Zone with Living Santuary teachers and friends. Of course, I was very excited. (ha not sure about Wan Qi) She woke up at 6:45am today and I got her usual breakfast oatmeal and egg ready by seven. But she will dilly and dally, she hates brushing up her teeth and bathing so she will whine every morning. (which always makes me very angry).

After I got myself ready, it was already 7:55am. Then I let Wan Qi wear her uniform and off we left the house at 8.06am. I took a cab there and reached by 8:20am just nice as she is supposed to go in at 8:30am.

Then Wan Qi told me that she wanted to bring her rabbit bag which she insisted that teacher said that she can bring her own bag to school rather than her school bag. The silly and stubborn mummy which is me doubted about it and said no lah it's better to bring school bag. In the end, when we were outside the hall, most of the kids brought their own bags. Then Wan Qi wanted to cry, she told me she really wanted her rabbit bag. At that point of time, I felt so guily about it. I really should have went to my dad's house to pick up that rabbit bag. (one thing she left it at my dad's place) But the consolation is I gave her a toy rabbit to put in her bag so she can hug it so I took it out and gave it to her. Then she gave me a kiss and went into the hall. However, I still feel very bad about it. At that point of time, I felt that I always force her to do things out of her wish.

Then I stood at the door like the rest of the anxious mummy, trying to see if Wan Qi join in the fun of singing with lots of action. Unfortunately, she didnt. She only sang the songs but with no action even though her teachers are so enthusiatics. :( But no choice. I waited at the door for them to board the bus. Seriously, I was very happy to be able to send her to school today to get involve in her first learning journey even though its for a short while.
I managed to take some pictures when she came out of the hall and while boarding the bus. She even posed for me(the way she learnt from a modelling course haha vainpot mummy sent her to impact modelling agency to attend a 1 day workshop, took some photos but accidentally deleted all of them. :_ dong dong mummy). While I was taking the pictures, she shouted to me "妈妈! 小心!等一下巴士移动,很可能会撞倒你!" Then I looked beside me, ya the bus is huge better stand to the pavement. The teacher heard and gave me a big smile. Hey I was proud of her, she can be very sweet and sensible at times. :>
And then off she boarded the bus. I waved to her and told to enjoy herself. I bet she did. Her teachers gave her biscuits and a bundle of toys. :>
