Bethesda Katong Kindergarten to Living Santuary Kindergarten

Wan Qi will officially be transferred to Living Santuary Kindergarten on 4th May. It was a very sudden decision by all family members including my mum, Xihong and I. Because of this the total damage is about three hundred plus dollars. But I think its worth the money.

It all started when Wan Qi gobbled her food whenever she returned from Bethesda Katong Kindergarten. When I asked her why she said she was only given a little food in school. So I asked Wan Qi to ask for more serving. She did but she was not given as there were not enough.
This continued for a while before I asked Xihong to talk to her teacher. Prior to that she was beaten by her classmate in the schoolbus, I asked my mum to talk to the bus attendent to change their seats. They didnt bother until she was punched at the nose again, I couldnt take it and told them sternly I wanted them to change their seats. At the same time, Xihong also called the school teacher thinking that he can just tell the teacher about the 2 matter.

Unfortunately, it was the school principal who answered the phone and Xihong told her about the matter. 2 days later, the teacher called. She told me that since it was only a snack at 12.30pm, there wouldnt be enough for second serving. I told her that Wan Qi boards the bus at 10am everyday and that is supposed to be her lunch and not snack. By the time she got home at 3.30pm, she will be so so hungry. Then she told me to bring extra food for Wan Qi. I was quite shock but agreed as I dont want to make matter worse. She then told me that Wan Qi was very talkative in school so we scolded and later also caned Wan Qi for that.

Then Wan Qi started to tell me she missed her Daysping Kindergarten teachers. In fact, she will make a comparison saying her present teacher is very fierce and she doesnt like her. And is not only on 1 occasion. But Xihong and I didnt really bother about it as we thought its good that she has a fierce teacher so that she will be disciplined.

However, subsequently, I began to hear her modelling her teacher saying things like "You ah this girl always urine urine urine." or "Talk talk talk " or "Send you off the classroom"and the most recent one "Dont be a busybody hah, you"

I began to think twice about sending Wan Qi to this school. On Wan Qi's birthday celebration that day, I asked the teacher about how is Wan Qi in school. She told me she has improved a little but went on to say that she is authoritative and is very rude to her. I was very disappointed with her and off course I wont spared the rod when she is rude to teachers. For that she got caning from me.

However, in the bottom of my heart I thought is she really that naughty. Back then in Dayspring, she loves her teachers and friends so much. And she is not a girl who cannot adapt to a new environment. The teachers in Dayspring always tell me that she never cause a problem to them not even on the very first day.

Neverthesless, I decided to go straight ahead to withdraw her from Bethesda Katong Kindergarten. I got the report book from the teacher. And I was shock to see that she actually got a Cs for enjoying books and a Cs for being alert and attentive. This assured me further that the lost of $300 is money well spent.

Wan Qi loves books so much that she can dont sleep just to read them. And when she wakes up in the morning and finds that the sleepy head which is me is still sleeping she will just automatically take out books and read. I am very proud of her reading readiness. At the tender age of 3 plus, she knows how to blend the words and read storybooks on her own. Give her a book, read it to her and tomorrow she is able to read aloud the story the very next day, be it Chinese or English. I was amazed by her recently too. I bought a set of TAU SHU Chinese storybooks for primary level, after reading to her three to four times, the very next day she actually read aloud the whole book to me as she pointed the chinese character correctly. How could it be that she is graded a C for enjoying reading. What have they done to her?? Or on what ground did they assessed her in this way. I was really furious. And I was feeling so lousy that I had chosen such a school for her and I hope she was not verbally abused by all the above.

As for alert and attentiveness, I am also puzzled. Back in Dayspring, after attending her own lessons, she will have tea break. The teachers from her own class and also teachers from other classes told me that Wan Qi will always finished up her food quickly and joined in the other classes to sit in and listen to the same lesson again conducted by a different teacher. So I am really upset that she had "changed". I am not sure from Shichida to Little Neuro Tree, she has always been the most attentive girl, she will sit through all the flash cards thing and finished all her activities. She is so determined that when she cant complete a 20 pcs puzzle within a 5-10min timing, she cried and insisted on finishing the puzzle all by herself .

I am not saying that Wan Qi is bright or anything is just the learning attitude that I am proud of her. But right now after receiving such a feedback it really upsets me and it makes me wonder, has she changed or has the school changed her or whatever the reason.

Whatever it is, I hope the change in environment will bring my old Wan Qi back. Keep my fingers crossed.

Sean Lau Photography

Here comes my little "vogue"girl. Wan Qi is wearing my top, my shoes and my necklace. Hee
My sweet girl

My happy girl

My girl "pondering" over something

I especially like this photo even though I look tired and artificial and"most turn off point" my flabby arms. It was disastrous. But I thought Wan Qi looks hilarious, seeing this picture makes me laugh everytime so I sacrifice myself and put this pic up. :P

We enjoyed the photography session at Sean Lau but the end result is nothing much though.
I thought they will have some special effect or something but no leh, abit disappointed.
I was especially ugly, I looked haggard but no choice as I was rushing from a birthday party thats why. hee excuses. :P ugly and yet dont want to admit. Luckily, Wan Qi looks good in the photo if not it will really be a waste of money.

Sweet memories when the 3 of them were in 2yrs, 2yrs plus

Saw this pictures and thought of putting them up. Arent they adorable. But the pic didnt appear clear and big whichever way I tried to post it.

Wan Qi is going to be 4!!!!

Wan Qi is going to be 4. So fast. Sign. Hee hee I was a bit sad that Wan Qi is going to be 4 and Xihong knows that. So he likes to tease me saying that soon Wan Qi will be 40 years old or soon she will be married.

We decided to celebrate her school's celebration in advance as I have a medical appointment on 23April so I thought I will just make use of the childcare leave to see the doctor (as I foresee myself having more mc due to my poor health sign.)

She always wanted a barbie doll 3D cake as we always see this particular cake at the cake shop near my block. So her wish is granted. However, I always dislike barbie doll so I decided to look for my own doll. And tala the end result is this. At only $30.

Wan Qi's Doll's cake

At the cakeshop
To my surprise, it is tasty too. I have always thought that neighbourhood cakeshop's cake is always not soft and spongy enough but this cake is soft and spongy. Thumbs up for GinChye Cakeshop.

The children sang a birthday song to Wan Qi and another in God bless you in the tune of Happy Birthday. Wan Qi was extremely happy on this day. :>

See we are in identical tops which I bought in Gingersnap. They have clothes from size 4 -14 so she wears 8 and I wear 14.

Thank you kind little little Auntie Guifen

Each year without fail, Guifen will buy a birthday gift for Wan Qi. Thank you, Guifen. You are always so generous and kind with kids, never forget their birthdays. :>

I gave Wan Qi the brithday gift that day. She just awoke from her sleep when I told her about the good news. She quickly jumped up from bed and wanted to take a look at the present. While she was doing that, she said "Thank you kind little little Guifen A Yi."

I took out my camera to record and hence asked her to say that phrase again but she said another instead and suddenly the stupid camera s battery went flat. Sign didnt manage to shoot the whole process of her unwrapping the present.

But nevertheless, she was very happy with the gift to the extent that she doesnt want to go for dinner. And we acted as her neighbours as it is a dollhouse.

Thank you once again, Guifen.

Singapore Chinese Girls School Carnival

Xihong bought the minnie mouse and flower balloon sculture for Wan Qi
Wan Qi won this monkey at the booths.

I bought a SCGS bear for Wan Qi. I wish she will be wearing this uniform in 3 years time. :>

Today is SCGS carnival. Since Xihong had joined SCGS as a Chemistry teacher, he has to purchase some coupons. So in the end, he bought 300 bucks of coupons (The students there are also required to buy the coupons)so we used $120 to buy cakessss. It includes 1 durian, 1oreo, 2chocolate, 1carrot cake 1 chesse and 6 eclairs. We then used the remaining for today's carnival.
Xihong bought the minnie mouse and a flower balloon sculpture for Wan Qi . They were ex. Basically, since its suppose to be a school fund raising carnival so basically things there are usually more ex. However, as there are many sponsors so the things sold there are quite useful.
I bought two boxes of good quality crayons and colour pencils, a set of chinese TAOSHU storybooks with a free water bottle, two recycled bags, one SCGS teddy bear, food and 4 adidas t-shirt. Wan Qi had fun fishing, throwing balls and rings at the booth. She bounced on the castles for 2 times, played animal rides, fried eggs, ate cookies.
As for lunch, I had subway sandwiches(using the coupons) and Wan Qi had prawn noodles. And that's it we spent all the money away.
I was quite impressed with their carnival. It was full of activities. Plus, there were a variety of stalls. The children especially had fun at the carnival.
I do hope that Wan Qi will be able to study in SCGS. Their curriculum is certainly very enriching.
When I was at the carnival, the girls are well behaved and polite. They are not the shy ones who will shun from strangers though. Rather they are quite outspoken. There were a few girls who came up to me to sell their products ranging from cupcakes, cookies, rings. When I turned them down, they would bow and said it's ok.
Wan Qi like SCGS too. She kept telling me that she wanted to study in SCGS. However, Xihong did said that it can be quite demanding in SCGS. So I really have to prepare Wan Qi well if she were to study there.

Aeroponic Farm, Qian Hu and Hay Dairies

Wan Qi our photgrapher. Not bad right. She seems to have a hang out of it. :>

We went to Aeroponic Farm on Saturday where they plant different types of vegetables. Some of the plants are quite special like the snake gourd. But Wan Qi was more interested in the kiddy monorail train that they had. Xihong said that kids will not enjoy things that doesnt move so we proceeded on to see crocodiles.
Unfortunately, the crocodile farm is not meant for touring. gege so we went to Hay Dairies instead. It's a pity that the kids cannot have close contact with the goats now .(when we brought Wan Qi there when she is 2yrs old, she can still feed the goats)
Now we can only see the goats from a distance. So sad. Anyway, we bought 5 bottles of goat milk at $10 for Wan Qi and she likes it. Basically, she is willing to take any milk that is fresh. Formula milk is a no no for her. I wanted to buy more but Xihong is worried that Wan Qi cannot take it as his nephew took a few and was down with fever. So we thought just buy 5 bottles to try. If it's ok we can always order for Wan Qi.
The last place that we went was Qian Hu. Yawn.... hee I thought it's quite a boring place but Xihong likes it so I ended up sleeping in the car while both of them went to explore the fish farm. When they were back, I woke up. In fact, I was dreaming that Wan Qi was calling me. Wan Qi told Xihong that she wanted to rear fish. I was like please dont want... fancy washing the fish tank once a month. I detest it.

Botanical Garden Trip

We went to Botanical Garden on Good Friday. yes Yawn haha cos I like it there as I can bring my Milky doggy along. Oh but my Milky was such a disgrace. She is an unfriendly dog when she sees other dogs. She will bark at them until the poor fellow cannot take it and leave her alone. Sign. What to do, she is only friendly to human beings. She is a bitchy girl. Hee but we love her so we will still bring her along every weekend. (We wanted to let Wan Qi exercise so that's what we plan to do this year)
This time round, we were only at the park for about 2hrs. It rained that morning and the benches were wet. So my idea of eating fried beehoon as picnic was ruined. Xihong began to grumble as he suggested mcmuffin which I thought was unhealthy. So we ended up eating in a pavilion , an extremely hot one. (yeh even it rained that morning. the weather is real bad nowadays)Then I still say something like"Wow, dear you are perspiring like crazy." Hee hee then Xihong gave me that look and said HAI SHUO FENG LIANG HUA.
Then we proceed to the empty space. Wow there were so many kids playing football. We joined in as well as we brought our ball too. Both Xihong and Wan Qi played together since they are the better players. Ya Wan Qi can really kick. She can kick very hard and far. :>
After that we went to play bubbles, other family's bubble machine. Wan Qi then offered to take a pic for us. So we happily held hands and posed for her. But she insisted we shouldnt hold hand. She said "Boys cannot hold Girls' hands." And that is why the above photo show us standing apart. :~
